When we started collecting, it was from local emerging artist. We wanted to help them build their careers and gain exposure. Over time we began to acquire works from more established artists ( Hung Liu, Roger Shimomura, Leslie Dill, to name a few) as well as regional artist that are a bit more obscure like Glenn Gant. We have always purchased what we like, and never thought of it as an investment knowing that the artwork would remain with us for years. We established a trust so that when we reach a point that we can no longer care for the work (and ourselves) it will either be donated to a local museum, or sold via a local gallery with the money donated to a charitable foundation. One of the primary thoughts behind the collection is that we never really own the work, we’re simply caretakers until it can be passed along to another art lover.

I absolutely love that you are sharing about the joy of collecting art. I have found wonderful (and affordable) art in all kinds of places. I consider them treasures.
